I was looking for a way for my kids to learn the basics of drawing. Mark Kistler’s virtual drawing class has been great. He has a mini marshmallow class that goes at a slower pace for younger children and those that may get frustrated easily. My children have been learning various techniques and terms. I love that they are taking what they are learning from Mark and using it in their everyday drawing. The various levels of practice are wonderful, especially for my oldest who is a box checker! Mark walks them step by step of how to draw each picture. I highly recommend this class to anyone looking for a drawing class!
Over the past 35 years, Mark Kistler has taught millions of children how to draw in 3-D at over seven thousand elementary school assembly workshops around the world, including Australia, Germany, England, Scotland, Mexico, Japan, Spain and the United States.
His starring roles as Commander Mark and Captain Mark in the hit children’s public television series The Secret City(1986), The Draw Squad(1989), and The New Secret City Adventures, have been enjoyed in six countries. His most recent self-produced public television series, Mark Kistler’s Imagination Station(1996, 1999 and 2008), has aired on over 150 Public Television stations nationwide. This series won a Emmy Award in 2010.
Mark has written and illustrated many popular children’s drawing books with Simon & Schuster Publishers, Learn to Draw with Commander Mark, Mark Kistler’s Draw Squad, The Imagination Station, and Drawing in 3-D with Mark Kistler. With Scholastic Publishers, his four book children’s series is titled Dare to Draw in 3-D! His most recent book, “You Can Draw in 30 Days”, published with Da Capo Press, is his first book oriented more for adults.
As a result of his television series and drawing books, Mark Kistler has generated over one million letters and emails containing 3-D drawings from children around the world.
Mark deeply believes that learning how to draw in 3-D builds a child’s critical thinking skills while nourishing self-esteem. His positive messages on self-image, goal setting, dream questing, environmental awareness and the power of reading have inspired millions of children to discover their awesome individual potential.
Mark lives with his children in Houston, Texas, United States.
“Flash” and “Gordon” are the Kistler Family pets. Unfortunately Mark is so allergic to cats that whenever he pets them, his eyes start watering like a crying baby!
Mark’s favorite household chore is riding the lawnmower with his kids, his least favorite is a toss-up between trying to get his kids to unload the dishwasher and cleaning the pool.
If you are still reading this it means that you are:
A: Really into learning how-to-draw in 3-D.
B: A very smart and clever elementary school assembly programs coordinator doing an impressive job of researching possible assembly presenters for your kids school and it’s probably 2:15am and you are so tired, thinking “how did I get roped into this volunteer cultural arts program chairperson again?!”
C: One of Mark’s children trying to find typos on Dad’s website for 25 cents each.
