There are features of the LIVE virtual classroom that you may not understand how to access or what they are used for. This page will help you to get the most out of the live classroom.
Let's start off with accessing the LIVE virtual classroom.
The are differences in internet browsers and we have found that Google Chrome works the best, followed by Firefox and then Internet Explorer. Apple's Safari may not work correctly because of the Adobe Flash program that is used.
When you are ready to enter the LIVE classroom, you do so by selecting the "Virtual Class Login" from www.markkistlerlive.com,
after clicking on the image, you will be transferred to the following screen:
Enter your email address that you used to sign up with and the password that you created when you first set up your account by pressing the "first time users" button.
Now that you have logged in, you will see the LIVE classroom listed. Press the "Join Using Browser" as indicated by the RED circle below.
A new window will pop-up and begin logging you into the classroom. You may see the following if a presenter has not entered the room yet or if you are trying to access the classroom when there is not a class scheduled.
You can just wait for the class to begin but you might want to check the schedule to make sure that a class is suppose to be running.
As you enter the classroom, you may be presented with this dialog box below:
At times after the lesson, the presenter may ask if anyone wants to share their artwork. To do this, you will need to set up and enable your camera. The microphone is not used. Once enabled, the presenter will see that you have a camera and then give you permission to share you work. A parent needs to be present when a student is sharing their work. The parent only needs to "wave" so the instructor can see they are in the room.
You have now successfully set up your account and logged into class! You will see a page very similar to the one below. Click on the image to enlarge it.
Let's now take a closer look at some of the special features in the LIVE classroom.
There are times that the instructor will ask for "feedback" by sending asking for a "smiley" face. You will find "expression" icons on the lower-left under the map.
You just need to position your mouse over the expression that you want to send and click the left button.
At times, the presenter will open the chat-box for the students to be able to interact with the teacher. The image on the left shows when the chat-box is locked and not available and the one on the right, shows that you are able to type in the chat-box to ask a question or participate.
You can enlarge a portion of the screen by clicking on the little silver arrow on the right side in the blue bar of the section you want to enlarge.
If you have other questions, please use the "Contact" link in the menu to send us your question or comments.
